We are delighted to announce that, as of February 19, 2020, the number of registered PayPay users has surpassed 25 million*¹. In addition, the number of merchants accepting PayPay has grown to more than 1.94 million locations*² , and monthly payment transactions have exceeded 100 million.
Since launching the service in October 2018, PayPay has continued to expand its user base through a variety of initiatives and promotional campaigns, including our highly successful “10 Billion Yen Giveaway Campaign” and “Wakuwaku PayPay” promotions.
Since its initial release, the PayPay app has evolved significantly with the introduction of a wide range of new features. From bill-splitting functionality to support for online shopping and utility bill payments, we have continuously expanded the app to make everyday payments more convenient.
