On February 21, an online recruitment event “Data Management Techniques to Support Data-Driven & PayPay Style Decision-Making : Governance Architecture in Large Data Analysis Infrastructure and Company-Mart Operations [PayPay Growth Tech vol. 5]” will be held, hosted by TechPlay.
“How can I design an infrastructure that can be leveraged as the foundation of decision-making and growth in a business where there is vast and complex data?”
Designed to address all data engineers who resonate with this question, we will share the trials and errors of our data analysis infrastructure endeavors made to support data-driven decision-making at PayPay, as reference for making better use of data.
PayPay now has 61 million registered users (as of December 2023) after five years since launch, and yet remains on its path of rapid growth to become the absolute No. 1 domestic cashless payment provider. Being such a business, a wide variety of complex data is accumulated internally, including transaction data, user activity data, and credit-related data unique to a fintech business.
To extract value from such data, our Data Management Department is assigned the indispensable mission of operating a data analysis infrastructure, maintaining a company data mart, and building BI.
Last time, which was the first—and very well received—event focused on these activities, by the title of “Technology Supporting PayPay’s Data Analysis Infrastructure,” we shared the background behind the creation of the team and how the pipeline environment and company-wide common table was designed to support data utilization.
In this sequel, we will reflect on the various trials and errors that happened over the past year and a half we’ve spent to further accelerate our data-driven approach.
