【Online event Info】PayPay Growth Tech! vol.8

On September 19, 2024, TechPlay will host an online event titled “The Role of a Tech Lead in Supporting Large-Scale Enterprise Systems – Secrets to Building Systems that Drive Business Success with Agility [PayPay Growth Tech vol.8].”

The System Development Department, which is primarily responsible for developing PayPay’s operational systems for our 65 million users (as of August 2024), also supports the increasingly complex campaign management operations as our services diversify.

In this event, we will talk about the “Nara Prefecture Premium Electronic Coupon” campaign conducted in October 2023. To ensure that this new type of campaign was executed swiftly, the tech lead responsible for the system participated from the initial planning stages. We will discuss how we tackled multiple system challenges and pushed towards the release to ensure the success of this initiative, which is a crucial milestone in our business strategy. We will also share the secrets of building systems that maximize business outcomes.

【Specific Challenges】

• A campaign that, if implemented, is expected to significantly expand user engagement and have a substantial business impact.
• The need to acquire new user information, requiring stringent information management.
• The process of screening for tens of thousands of applicants after the release.
• The possibility of requirement changes during development due to the involvement of numerous stakeholders, both inside and outside the company.

Rather than aiming for complete automation from the start, we came up with a system structure that was the most efficient, speedy, and flexible as possible by leaving some tasks to be handled manually. During this event, we will share the creative approaches and thought processes taken by the tech lead to overcome these challenges, along with the system architecture diagram.
